Roosters and Chickens

My customer, Shirley, brought this beautiful quilt top to me to quilt and left it up to me to decide what to quilt where. I had a lot of fun doing it!

This view on the right shows the appliqued corn stock and the crow on the left border.

This view below shows the rest of the quilt. It just doesn't fit completely on my queen bed but the lighting in that room is better than in the room with the king bed.
Shirley did a fantastic job with this top...lots of hand-applique, some machine-applique, as well as pieced blocks. Her choice of blocks and the layout is wonderful. I had fun freehand quilting it. I quilted corn stalks on each side of the appliqued cornstalk but couldn't get it all in one photo so I will show you a portion of it.
I like to do a variety of quilting in the different blocks and sometimes the subject of the block dictates what I should do as in this block....

Isn't her crow handsome?

Some of the pieced chickens, cute...aren't they?!!
I hope you've enjoyed seeing this quilt as much as I enjoyed quilting it!
